Herbs and Stones Mousse
Mousse is a dual-voice hybrid groovebox from Herbs and Stones that uses a unique set of interacting CV sequencers and modulation sources to evoke inspired beats, generative melodies, and organic soundscapes. The core of Mousse's two voices are digital oscillators, which are warmed up through analog filters and amplifiers. Voice A offers a sine wave which is processed through a chorus effect, which Herbs and Stones calls time manipulation synthesis, resulting in familiar two-operator FM sounds. Voice B provides a complementary subtractive voice with multiple waveforms, ideal for a wide range of classic and characterful tones.
Each of these voices offers a flexible sound source with eleven CV inputs for familiar sound design tools, which truly come alive when controlled by Mousse's unique modulators. In the upper-left clock section, Mousse can be synchronized with an external or internal clock source, with a CV input to smoothly change clock speed. This clock source runs each of two independent sequencers, each with up to four steps. On sequencer A, steps can be slewed to create smooth modulation shapes, and dynamically adjusted in length. Sequencer B can divide from four to two steps, and features a semi-random mode called form. Both sequencers offer four gate outputs and the ability to rotate their steps.
In addition to these powerful sequencers, LFOs X and Y offer random waveforms that are related to one another and can be tamed with a number of parameters. Adjust amplitude range with skip, shape waveforms, and dial in steps to craft anything from simple waveshapes to generative pattern sequencers. Using the sequencers and LFOs together, Mousse provides an intuitive palette for exploring the behaviors of complex musical systems. Perfect for generating unique samples, adding interest on top of more strict sequences, and creating musical motifs in the course of performance, Mousse from Herbs and Stones is a one-of-a-kind groovebox sure to inspire you towards musical roads less traveled.
